PAPRIKA Grows in Argentina, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, France, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Spain, Turkey, and the United States. Paprika, a member of the capsicum or chili family, is an annual herb with a wood stem, white flowers, and long fruited peppers. The spice is obtained from the ripe fruit that is dried out and ground into a reddish powder. In India Paprika comes from a pepper called deghi mirchi. Paprika is primarily used for adding color to the prepared food items. Although the flavor is usually secondary, paprika is the key ingredient in making sausages or chorizos and Hispanics sometime call it "sweet chili". Use Chef Merito Paprika as garnish on appetizers, eggs, seafood, vegetables, sauces, salad dressings, and cole slaw.
